Half Marathon

Start Time: 9:15am

The Half Marathon is flat & fast with a course that takes you from beach to bay! Starting at the famous Beachcomber Bar & Grill, runners will run south into Seaside Park through the residential neighborhood before running along side the bay. Runners will then be directed back to the boardwalk and to the north end of Seaside Heights looping back to the Beachcomber. But it doesn't end there - runners will repeat the same loop TWICE!

1:45 pace

I’m 52 years old, married, and a father of three boys. As a former touring tennis professional and coach, fitness has always been a way of life for me. Over these past 18 years I’ve run 32 marathons with my best times occurring over the last 6 years. I run five of them under three hours; Chicago, Philly, NYC, Wineglass, and a PB at Boston in 2:55. I have no idea of how many half marathons I’ve run but I got stuck at 1:22 on three occasions. Currently, most of my running is spent coaching runners in my area, including my 11 year old son who loves to run!

I am very excited about pacing the Seaside Half Marathon for the first time this year. I’ve been a pacer of the NJ Marathon and Long Branch Half Marathon for many years. I talk a lot when I run, so I hope I don’t bother you. Most of what I talk about has to do with staying focused, reminding you why you trained your butt off for this, and how I’m going to help you meet your goal! I'm 42 years old, married, and the father of two great kids. I've been a 'runner' for as long as I can remember, and now that I've entered the Masters category, I'd like to think that I'm in it for the long haul! I shifted focus to long distance running around 2009 and have completed ~15 marathons and MANY more half marathons since then. The ORC Seaside Half is one of my favorite local half marathons and for this reason I'm very excited to participate as the pacer for the 1:50 group.

This is my first time running as a pacer. So like many of you, I too will approach this adventure with my best foot forward, an open mind, and a steady focus to accomplish our goal. My pacing strategy will be to run even splits after a slightly slower start on mile one. You got this...and I'm going to be with you every step of the way.

Hello my name is Jennifer and I have been running for over 20 years. I have done over 150 races including 14 marathons, a 50K and over 25 halves and various distances which include duathlons and triathlons. I have traveled to many beautiful places to run races including my favorite, The Big Sur Marathon, in Cali! I am married and have 2 kids in college and 1 year and a half rescue pup, who runs! I would love to help you reach your goal just like so many people in Ocean Running Club have helped me!! Let’s go!

About Bunny

Hi runners! My name is Bunny and I am excited to pace the 2 hour group. I have completed 8 marathons but have lost track of the number of half marathons. I have also just completed my first Ultra in Philly. I am currently training to run the NYC Marathon for the 7th time. I live in Lavallette with my husband Weezer and 6 year old son Ethan, so I am very familiar with this course. Whether this is your first race or you are looking for a personal best, I am looking forward to helping you achieve your racing goal. Happy training and happy running!

I am from Wayne, NJ. I have completed 23 marathons, 22 half, and 2 ultra-marathons since 2010. I have paced many half marathons and marathons in the past few years and I enjoy pacing very much. As a pacer, my goal is to get you to enjoy the race and get you to the finish within your goal time. I will make you laugh and forget about the pain. When I am not running, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my 2 young children at home. Be prepared, you’ll have so much fun running with me that you’ll develop addiction in running! We will have a magical time that you don't need to go to Disney to experience that! See you very soon!

Frequently Asked Questions

When and Where is Packet Pick-Up?

Packet Pick Up will take place at the Beachcomber Bar and Grill on Saturday 5-7pm, and Sunday Morning beginning at 7am. Please have a form of ID ready.

All runners under age 18 MUST bring parent or guardian to sign a consent to run. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Is there parking available?

Yes but parking meters are in effect during packet-pickups and the races. There are plenty of residential side streets that do not have meters and are still within walking distance of the Start.

What time do the races begin?

The 5K begins at 8:30am. The half marathon begins at 9:15am. Both races begin and end at the Beachcomber Bar and Grill.

Is there a time limit for the half marathon?

Yes - the time limit is 3 hours. If runners are still on the course we ask the timing company as a courtesy to continue recording. This is not a guarantee that it will be permitted.

Are there Port-A-Johns available?

Yes, Port-A-Johns will be available at 24th Ave Fluid stop and Start/Finish Area. The double loop course allows for runners to pass these stops 4 times.

Can I pick up a packet for another runner?

Yes, but please have a copy of that runner's photo Id and a letter consenting the pickup.

Can I register on race day?

Yes - you can register at Packet Pickup on Saturday from 5-7pm or Sunday Morning beginning at 7am.

I plan to register at the race. Will I receive a shirt?

Shirts are only guaranteed to the pre-registrants that signed up by the pre-registration deadline. All registrants thereafter will receive a shirt while supplies last and on a first-come-first-serve basis.

How many fluid stops are there?

The 5K will have a Water stop at the turn-around point. The Half Marathon will have Water/Gatorade available with a double-loop course, which equals to 6 stops total.

Are running strollers permitted?

Running or regular strollers are NOT PERMITTED as per safety regulations.
